Donald & Maria

Donald and Maria have a long history with law enforcement. Neither parent is employed yet they reside in a suburban home. During an execution of a search warrant, police found drugs, weapons and more than $14,000 cash in their home. As the police continued their search, they found seven children locked in one bedroom. The only access to bathroom facilities was a bucket in the corner of the room

It has been nearly two years since this occurred and the children remain in foster care. All of the children have significant behavioral issues that are interfering with school performance and peer relationships. What does their future hold?

Recently, Donald and Maria came to HopeNet to complete a court-ordered assessment. Both parents began this process hostile and defensive. Through the relationship established with HopeNet staff, they have begun to honestly address their situation.

As both parents have histories that include child abuse, drug abuse and gang affiliations, the road to healing will certainly be long. But this is a journey they do not have to walk alone. With HopeNet alongside, Donald and Maria have a genuine opportunity to make lasting changes and transform the legacy handed down to their children.
